Gerald Kooistra

As one of the Team Leads of CMD Leeuwarden. I am accountable for the direction of the programme and for how education, practice, and research come together. My focus is on building learning environments in which students develop into designers who consciously position themselves in relation to the world. I love the arts, bold ideas, and well-founded choices. Consciously and unconsciously I've developed myself broadly over the years: from strategic communication consulting and media production to education and concept development. I worked freelance as a strategist and maker and discovered a passion for teaching at the University of Groningen, which I further developed within CMD. I prefer the concrete. Real projects, real things, because that is where we discover what actually works. At the same time, I like to address the underlying questions: why are we doing this, and what does that mean for the impact we make?
